Jews in odd places: Norway: The Norwegian Arts Council has granted funding to the Jewish community and the Oslo City Museum to establish a Jewish Museum in Oslo. The museum should be open by 2005.

"It is certainly timely and important for us to be able to show the historical side of our culture. We are the oldest minority group which immigrated to Norway," Rolf Kirscher, leader of the Oslo Jewish Community, told The Norway Post.

The city of Trondheim already has a museum which shows the life of the Jewish community in Trondheim and those further north.

The Oslo museum will collect and preserve objects and historical facts on the history and culture of the Jews in Norway. Emphasis will be put on the immigration of the Jews and their integration into the Norwegian society, from 1851 to the present.
