SOFIA (Support Our Friends in Iraq and Afghanistan) is a Department of Defense program that seeks to locate and hire qualified personnel to work in Iraq or Afghanistan assisting the fledgling governments in their quest to become full-fledged democracies. To do this, prospective applicants must be willing to live under field conditions, initially alongside their military counterparts and, eventually, mostly on their own.The Kellogg Brown & Root division of Halliburton has openings too.
